It's way too frustrating when you don't have time to farm and you can't buy the skills you need.

Skill Quests are one of the reasons why I like Prophecies a lot better than Factions and Nightfall. I hate buying skills.

I prefer getting 750g and a skill point (meaning I can buy a skill of choice) over a skill I might not want.
ArenaNet didn't make skill quests in factions/nightfall, because people only took the skills they got from quests and often didn't even look at skill trainers. This lead to very little different builds because people only used a fraction of the available skills. That is something ArenaNet doesn't wish to encourage. At least now people do look at the skill trainers and get to choose their rewards.

/YES PLEASE!

I'd be thrilled if they did this to Nightfall and Factions too. Then I'd be interested in finishing them with all my characters.

As it is, they all go to Prophecies and get skills there... cheaper and free.

These were always fun to do and made the quests more rewarding.

This would be a most welcome return to the good 'ol days, this is what the game was always about for most of us!

Sure you start off with a bit of a 'cookie cutter' experience, but then it's up to everyone to experiment once you get further into the game and get a few skills under the belt. That's where most of the fun is.

You could even make it so that you have a skill or two from each of the different streams within professions offered. For example, Necro could choose either a blood, death, or curses skill, or Ele could choose either a fire, water, or air skill, ad infinitum. You have a choice of which one to pick at the end of the mission, breaking away from the 'cookie cutter' issue.

This would bring back the thrust behind the story missions, giving peeps the incentive to play the full story, not just rush through to where you get the best armour and then farm farm farm!! Where's the joy in that?

Then, you can always go back and buy other base skills if you want to change direction half way through the game. So many options, and best of both worlds, maybe?

It would make everyone have the same builds earlier in the chapter. I think all non elite skills should be available from the beginning.

I would possibly sign if we could also still buy all other skills instead of doing the quests. Make quests with skill rewards be "master level" quests.

I strongly agree with this.

The way it is currently set up, those who are rich can afford to have the best builds whlie those who struggle to get by and are more casual players will be left behind.

I recently just started a new Prophecies character after getting through NF and I have missed these quests so bad. I dont see why we cant have skill trainers too. Simply put in the skill quests and still have several other side quests that award skill points and gold. Is there a problem with being able to do both? Maybe some tweaking would have to be done but I think it is worth it.

At 1k a skill I hate buying new skills on my paragon. Plus, What if I dont like the skill and throw it back...I just wasted my 1k. It would just be nice to be able to have a few skills handed to me as a reward. I rarely have that 1k that I dont think I could use somewhere else. On most of my characters I dont really start adding up money till I'm able to buy max armor. Till then my budget is somewhat tight.

I think having the 'hero' skill system and trainers in all chapters would be a viable solution.
You get extra free skill points and skills you can gain as you progress, but are not forced to take specific skills.
I have to admit i did miss the skill quests in Factions, but you do get given a lot of free skills in Shing Jea if you do all the quests for your profession choices.

Agreed, upto a point... the one issue with using the hero skill traders is that heroes already know every skill that you have unlocked on your account, the hero skill traders don't take this into account and show every skill to you as if you don't know them, it would be much better if they just didn't show skills you already knew

Not true. Even though i have the skill unlocked on one character, i may not have it on that character and want it again, if it didnt show it, that could be a problem.

Umm, no, because you can't use the skills unlocked by the hero skill trader, they unlock them for your account... however, if they are unlocked for your account, you can then go and buy them from the Skill trainer straight away (minus Elites of course)

Remember, once you unlock a skill from a hero trainer, it unlocks on your account for PvP and for ALL heroes your characters have, so you can unlock once through the game and be done with it... Hell, its easier just to buy the pvp unlock packs, they give your heroes EVERY skill with no hassle and your nearly pvp ready, along with your pve characters having access to all but elites at the first skill trainer you come across in game

Actually, when you unlock a skill with the hero skill trader that is for the class you are playing, it appears in YOUR character's skill list too. It does not just effect your heroes.

I actually DID pick up all the all the PvP unlock packs, so i have every skill unlocked already (mostly so i could skill out my heroes in any way i liked as i dont play PvP).
Yet i can still buy hero skills, but now i only get the one's for the class i am playing and i gain the skill for that character.

Well thats interesting, as i haven't unlocked anything from the hero skill trader on any characters, only unlocked on my account (before adding the pvp unlock pack) and if it is unlocking for your character, its a glitch

I'll double check next time to make sure, but pretty certain this has been the case on all my characters.

If this isnt the case (or its just a glitch in my case), it should be and then my point of using 'hero' skill traders would make more sense.
